Koha — Support This Project
MySovereignty.digital is independently funded. Your voluntary contribution helps us build privacy-respecting infrastructure for communities worldwide.
Understanding Koha
Koha (koh-hah) is a Māori practice of reciprocal giving that maintains and strengthens relationships. Unlike a transaction, koha recognises the mutual bond between giver and receiver — affirming shared humanity and interdependence.
When you offer koha to support this work, you take part in building it. Nothing is held back for givers, and giving buys nothing extra — the platform is the same for everyone. Koha is what keeps it independent.
The spirit of koha is not about the amount, but about maintaining balance and mutual respect. Your koha sustains this work; this work serves you and the broader community.
Note: MySovereignty.digital is an independent project, not a registered charity or business entity. Your koha is a voluntary contribution to support platform development and infrastructure. Contributions are not tax-deductible. You will receive a receipt for your records.
Stop your monthly koha
Do you give koha every month and want it to stop? Enter your email address below and we will stop your payments — no questions asked. We will stop them right away rather than waiting for the end of the month, and we will email you as soon as the payment provider confirms it. If any money is taken after today, contact us and we will refund it. This cannot be undone, and there is no way to pause a payment or change a card here; if that is what you need, please get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you use the term "Koha"?
Koha is a Māori practice of reciprocal giving that maintains relationships. We use this term to honour the indigenous wisdom of Aotearoa New Zealand, where our lead developer is based, and to acknowledge that community tools should be rooted in values of relationship, mutual care, and respect — not just transactional exchange.
Is this tax-deductible?
We are currently operating as an independent project, not a registered charity. Contributions are not tax-deductible at this time. You will receive a receipt for your records.
How do I stop my monthly koha?
Use the section above — enter your email address and we will stop your monthly koha. No questions asked. We will stop it right away rather than waiting for the end of the month, and we will email you as soon as the payment provider confirms it. If any money is taken after today, contact us and we will refund it.
What currencies do you accept?
Ten: NZD, AUD, EUR, GBP, USD, CAD, CHF, SGD, HKD and JPY. Choose yours above the amount — you are charged in that currency, exactly the figure you enter. We also record an indicative NZD equivalent for our own accounts.
Where does the koha go?
Every koha received is recorded, along with what it paid for. Nothing is aggregated away.
Can I give koha just once rather than monthly?
Absolutely. Both one-time and ongoing koha are welcome. Click "One-Time Koha" at the top of the form to make a single contribution of any amount.
